Another language, another country, another psyche, other food (and Dutch food – that is scary) to deal with.
Just how did my mother feel when she was informed that the family was to emigrate from Denmark to New Zealand in the late 1940″s. She had two young children and was going to a country with a different language, a different psyche, different food. They did not learn the English language at school back then. How did she manage? Well that could be another story.
